These people, couples, families, and family foundations have given gifts ranging from $10 to $5000 to support our work providing life-enriching experiences in nature to Alexandria teens from under-resourced families.

$5000
A $5000 gift funds 18 Weekend Outings in their entirety. With each outing running about five hours, and serving 12 students, you've created 1080 student-hours in the great outdoors–paddling, hiking, climbing, sailing, and having fun. Feeling a breeze on the face, hearing the crunch of leaves underfoot, grasping the crag of a rock in fingertips, enjoying the splash of cold water off a paddle.
Alternatively, $5000 buys all the tents, backpacks, sleeping pads, and other gear we need to take 15 kids camping for many years to come.
$2500
With $2500, a donor feeds hungry campers and staff throughout our inaugural summer program. You’ll provide breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks - and maybe the occasional ice cream cone - for 15 students and three staff over the course of 10 days camping in Virginia Wilderness.
Alternatively - $2500 pays for a six-week after-school program, across 3 schools and four sets of students. You will have given 60 students incredible experiences right here in Alexandria’s local parks.

1 Student for 1 Year!
With your $1090 gift, you've funded one student's experience with Wilderness Kids for a full year - a full rotation of after-school programs, ten exciting weekend outings, and ten full days of summer camping experiences. You've enriched a life in so many ways over the course of a full year. Thank you!
Alternatively, with $1000 you’ve funded a 2022 Summer Staff position - for a talented teacher to lead our students on 10 days of camping immersion.
$750
With your $750 donation, you are paying in full for one student to participate in 10 days and nights of summer camping. You are creating an opportunity for that student to sleep under starry skies, enjoy views across the Sheandoah Valley, and find independence, confidence, and empowerment among a community of their peers.
Another way to think of it: $750 funds the purchase of seven top-notch backpacks that our students use on their ventures into back-country in the summertime.
$300
With a $300 donation, you’re supporting paying in full for one student to attend 10 weekend outings - to go sailing on the Chesapeake, climbing at Carderock, learning about communication with the students and staff of Gallaudet University, hiking the Billy Goat, and so much more!
Alternatively, $300 funds meals for all the students for five days of camping. Yum!

With a $100 donation, you’ve funded an after-school program where 15 kids get out to an Alexandria park for 90 minutes or more and explore, explore, explore.
Or, you’ve funded 20 kids to go indoor climbing at Movement Gym for an afternoon.
Or, you’ve funded five meals for our summer time camping program!
$50
With $50, you’ve enabled one student to attend six after-school sessions -- time outside each week during which students cultivate and develop their sense of community, curiosity, new skills, mindfulness, gratitude, creative expression, and their personal relationships with nature.
Alternatively, $50 outfits our summertime kitchen - with a pot, a pan, a cooking spoon, some fuel, a knife, and a cutting board.

With a $25 donation, you’ve bought an entire meal for our summer time campers. Maybe it was the pancakes we ate for breakfast?
Or the PB&Js we had with carrots and chips for lunch? Or was it the mac n cheese with a veggie on the side that we planned for dinner? Whichever it was, thank you thank you!
