Weekend Outings
Two to three times each month, Wilderness Kids students get outside on a Saturday, Sunday, or school holiday for an extended adventure. We are thankful to the Alexandria Fund for Human Services for making these Weekend Outings possible through their generous grant to Wilderness Kids.

Middle School students will embark on a rotation of different activities. This ensures they get a broad range of experiences at an age appropriate level.

High School students will have the opportunity to participate in our skill cohorts. Students will select an activity that range from weekend warriors, to paddle skill building. They decide what suits them best.
Check out some of our great past adventures here.
What do we do?
Our middle schoolers rotate through climbing, biking, hiking, paddling, and camping experiences. Students do not need prior experience in any of these activities. Wilderness Kids provides all the necessary food, transportation, and gear needed.
Where do we go?
Our weekend activities range with the season, activity, and weather. Our days run from roughly 9am -5pm and we stay within a 1-2 hour radius of Alexandria. We strive to introduce students to places they could access with their families.
Our path to success:
There are a few key rules we ask our student to follow in order to get the most out of their time with us.
Our Students Must:
-
attend regularly; regular attendance is required to access job opportunities and summer experiences
-
respect themselves and others
-
respect property
-
Zero drug and/or alcohol use
